Our job is to bring academic subjects to life, not to act as a travel agency. I’m becoming increasingly annoyed by expensive, elitist trips where kids effectively pay for substitution, teachers’ accommodation and plane tickets. Many students also struggle to catch up on lost classes. (2) You’re right on by exposing the meta-analysis myth about class size. (3) Selective integration, a nuanced approach as you say, is indeed the way to go.
I completely agree about ECA’s! They too require a balanced approach that ensures that academics remain priority #1
